There's something quite magical about the holidays - decorating the Christmas tree, the twinkling lights, the delicious food, the unwrapping of gifts, the nostalgia-inducing songs and the spirit of closeness. Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky composed the magical two-act ballet 'The Nutcracker' based on Alexandre Dumas' 1844 short story 'The Tale of a Nutcracker' and with graceful choreography by Marius Petipa, it became one of the world's finest, most in demand and most celebrated classical ballets ever.
Featuring some of the world's most adored tunes in classical libary, 'The Nutcracker' explores the story of young Clara who is gifted a curious wooden Nutcracker doll from the mysterious Drosselmeyer on Christmas Eve. When the clock strikes midnight, the living room transforms into a wonderland where the toys come to life, with whom she embarks on a magical adventure.
'The Nutcracker' also boasts magnificent dancing - from epic lifts and highly athletic leaps to incredible spins and phenomenal, elegant dancing, from tasteful choreography and astonishing puppetry to gorgeous hand-crafted costumes and scenery and of course, Tchaikovsky's impressive score to underline the on-stage events.
