Musical producer Lin-Manuel Miranda, fresh off his success from his last Broadway show, In the Heights, conceptualized Hamilton for a number of years before it populard in the Richard Rodgers theater in 2015. It was in this debut that he also acted the lead role. The entire production, including its one-of-a-kind cast and inspiring score received extremely positive praise from both the internet and the audiences alike.

The show, as you might know, is a historical story based off one of the Nations Founding Fathers, but the show takes a fresh and modern approach, as seen in the music styles chosen and particularly in its diverse casting. Also, the 2016 Tony Awards, where the production was awarded 11 out of 16 nominations, is a proof to its success. The production also earned the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2016. The show's debut cast included the likes of Philippa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr. And Jonathan Groff. Individually, the cast was already filled with both famous nominees and previous award winners, but their diverse and strong performances collected together brought Hamilton to a completely new level. The production team, just as incredibly talented, earned Tony Awards for Hamilton. Thomas Kail for Best Direction andy Blankenbuehler for Best Choreography, Alex Lacamoire for Best Orchestrations, Howell Binkley for Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Paul Tazewell for Best Costume Design of a Musical and of course Lin-Manuel Miranda himself for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical, all topped the 2016 Tony Awards. Above all and unsurprisingly, the production also snatched Best Musical for 2016. The present cast and production crew in each new location where Hamilton is on tour brings the same energy and enthusiasm in their performances, with overwhelming positive reviews maintained regularly.

Hamilton's global rise to fame led to opening many doors across the USA for the fans to experience Hamilton. It has continued for the past ten years to perform not just in America, but also across the pond in the U.K. And in various locations across Asia. The North American Tour will be arriving in Oklahoma City for 16 performances throughout August (Tuesday, August 11th through August 23rd, 2026, with the opening evening on Tuesday 11th August 2026 at 7:30 PM) at Thelma Gaylord Performing Arts theatre At Civic Center Music Hall as part of the OKC Broadway 2026-27 season, performing at yet another world-class stage with the top facilities and sound engineering that could surpass even Broadway and West End theaters.
