Comedian, actor, voice actor, and entertainer, Tim Allen is best known for his role as Tim Taylor on the hit American sitcom Home Improvement. His film roles include the Toy Story films, The Santa Clause, and Galaxy Quest, among many others.
Back in 1975, Allen launched his stand-up comedy career. He went to a comedy night at a Detroit club on a dare from a friend. There, he got his start in show business by doing commercials and guest starring on cable comedy shows like Gary Thison's Some Semblance of Sanity. At some point, he uprooted to Los Angeles, where he joined the ranks of The Comedy Store. He then started making records and movies of his stand-up comedy specials and performances on late-night talk shows.
Allen's breakout role as handyman Tim "The Tool-Man" Taylor on the hit ABC sitcom Home Improvement catapulted him to stardom. In the span of a single week in November 1994, he was the face of the highest grossing film, the best-selling book, and the highest-rated television show. Soon after, he voiced Buzz Lightyear in the critically acclaimed animated film Toy Story. He also created a racing team called the Saleen/Allen "RRR" Speedlab with Steve Saleen, and race driver Bob Bondurant during the same time period as Allen's work on Home Improvement. They entered Saleen Mustangs into the SCCA World Challenge, with Allen and Saleen behind the wheel.
