Synopsis

Set in the vibrant and gritty streets of Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, the story follows 17-year-old Ali, a fiery teen’s quest for identity amid her overprotective single mother’s watchful eye. Follow Ali as she rebels and finds her musical talent through piano lessons with her sage mentor, Miss Liza Jane, and sparks a love story with street drummer Knuck. Tensions rise with personal conflicts involving her absentee father, Davis. Through triumphs and struggles, Ali learns to accept her expression, her roots, and the community that shapes her. Hell's Kitchen began development in 2011, based on Alicia Keys' personal experiences. It premiered Off-Broadway at The Public Theater in 2023 to critical acclaim, lengthening its run before moving to Broadway in 2024, with previews starting March 28 and an official opening on April 20. The show earned 13 Tony Award recognitions in 2024, winning Best Actress in a Leading Role for Maleah Joi Moon and Best Featured Actress for Kecia Lewis.
