The Book of Mormon is a musical comedy about our views on religion, specifically of the mission of Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, who through clever methods, attempt to convert villagers of a local village in Uganda. This Tony Award-winning show, that has proceeded to have successful showings in the U.S., London, and Australia, running for more than a decade to date, radically teaches us something new about religion, with comedy through classical Broadway.

Praised as one of the longest-running musicals of all time, The Book of Mormon has been a certified hit from all around the globe. In its several performances in the United States, London’s West End, and Australia to name a few, the Broadway hit has been met with an astounding reception from viewers and sold-out shows. In Oklahoma City, it is expected to be no different as the performance on Sunday 12th October 2025 will be held in Thelma Gaylord PAT At Civic Center Music Hall , with a reputation of running the finest plays and musicals, and loved by many because of its beautiful facilities and adequate seating.
The Book of Mormon is a musical about religious teachings and stories, specifically Mormon missionaries named Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, as they are ordered to teach their religion’s faith and teachings to a small local village in Uganda. They discover however, the local residents are not receptive of their preaching, as they face issues of their own. The pair then clash because of their methods to convert the locals, with Cunnigham’s often involving adding fiction and fantasy to his religious teachings.
To date, The musical has accumulated several awards in both Broadway and West End, including nine Tony Awards out of fourteen total nominations, including for Best Musical after its debut in 2011, four Drama Desk Awards, and three Outer Circle Critics awards. In the West End production of the musical which debuted in 2013 at the Prince of Wales theatre, it won four Laurence Olivier Awards again including for Best Musical, while in its Australian tour in 2017, it also won two Helpmann Awards that also included for Best Musical.
Commercially, The Book of Mormon has also achieved unbelievable monetary success with more than 4,600 performances as of the end of 2023. It has grossed over $1 billion dollars worldwide, and was even contributed to by the church through ad buys of ad space, billboards, bus advertising space, and other marketing campaigns in the several cities in which the show toured.
